Quiz Evening Report PDF Print E-mail

The NNHSC held their annual Social Evening and Quiz on Wednesday 18 November at the Lady Waterford Hall, Ford.  It was a very successful evening with a good turnout.  We would like to thank all of you who came along and a special thanks to those who brought delicious plates of food for our finger buffet ~ everyone seemed to enjoy the buffet which was evident with hardly any leftovers at the end of the evening.

Thank you also to Lord Joicey who kindly donated the wine for the bar and to Ruth Turner and Jenny Landale for supplying the verbal questions.  Were they too easy, were they too hard?  Let us know via the website ~ we would like to hear your views on the evening, it all helps us to get it right next time round!

A sterling job was undertaken by our question master James Dobie (under the influence of a nasty 'flu' bug) and also our scorer, Andrew Taylor, who made light work of some tricky questions and answers.

We had a total of 10 teams, slightly down on last year, and the eventual clear winners were "Sea The Stars" ~ well done.  The booby prizes went to "The Gypsies" ~ commiserations, we hope you enjoyed your Smarties!

We managed to sell a few packs of last year's Christmas cards but have to report that we are not producing cards or the 2010 Calendar this time.  Unfortunately we were left with a lot of unsold calendars last year and we just cannot afford to run at a loss.  We are going to have another long look at printing costs etc and hopefully we will be able to produce a calendar for 2011, if that is what the majority of you want.  We now have a lot more photographs from which to choose and perhaps, in a different format, the calendar will happen again.  It has been suggested that we might produce cards that are blank inside and which can be used for any occasion, either as a postcard or a card and envelope ~ have you any views on this, would you be interested?  Do let us know via the website.

Once more, our committee would like to thank all of you who attended our Quiz and supported the Hunt.  With a few expenses still to come off, we made in the region of £600 ~ every little helps!  We hope you enjoyed the evening and look forward to seeing you again next year.
